Field Trip to Keukenhof Tulip Gardens. We were lucky as this was the last day of the season that the gardens were open. We got there early and there were already many bus loads of tourists that arrived before us. The gardens are large enough that it was not too crowded once we got inside. I will have to say that there were some “ugly tourists” that walked right into the flower gardens. There was also an Indian wedding party where the photographer had the full entourage stand in the middle of a patch of tulips. I don’t know how many flowers got trampled. ARRG!!!

Broad-winged Hawk (?) in Flight. The hawk and a crow kept chasing each other most of the morning. Image taken with a Nikon D4 camera and 600 mm f/4 VR lens (ISO 900, 600 mm, f/4, 1/640 sec).

Sunrise Aboard the MV Explorer. Image taken with a Nikon D3s camera and 24 mm lens (ISO 200, 24 mm, f/16, 1/60 sec). One thing we learned during the voyage (the hard way) was the need to take the camera and lens out on deck at least 30 minutes before taking any images to prevent fogging due to moisture condensing on the lens.
