Gone to See Patagonia 2015 Photography Tour with Thom Hogan. Day 4: Hosteria Helsingfors.

Wet Crested Caracara at Hosteria Helsingfors in Patagonia (southern Argentina). The bird was sitting outside the kitchen window in the rain (begging for bacon). Images taken with a Fuji X-T1 camera and 55-200 mm lens (ISO 800, 200 mm, f/4.8, 1/30 sec). Raw image processed with Capture One Pro, Focus Magic, and Photoshop CC.

I think I am going to like this lens. The images were taken hand-held with the optical image stabilization (OIS) on at 1/30 sec.

Gone to See Norway 2013 Chasing the Northern Lights. Day 17: Tromsø.

Northern Lights in Norway. The entire sky just exploded just after midnight on Valentines day. My fisheye lens was not wide enough to capture it all!!!. If you watch closely you can see the Big Dipper. Image taken with a Nikon D800 and 16 mm f/2.8 fisheye lens (ISO 3200, 16 mm, f/2.8, 2 sec). The sequence of 18 images was automatically converted into an animated video by G+.

Thursday (12-February-2015) — New Jerseyh

Backyard Wintertime Nature in New Jersey.

One of the Many Squirrels Free Loading in My Attic. There were five nests and I had to replace all of the insulation in the attic and the wiring that they chewed through. Don’t know why they didn’t get electrocuted, and glad they didn’t start a fire. I wasn’t allowed to drop him/her off at the local nature preserve, but somewhere 5 miles away from the house. Image taken with a Leica T camera and 18-56 mm lens (ISO 100, 20 mm, f/4.2, 1/80 sec).
