I spent some of the day using the Astro tripod head to do 360 degree images and 360 degree time-lapse videos. First stop was the Plaza de San Francisco (Saint Francis of Assisi). Later we did a walk along the Malecón (Avenida de Maceo) — actually across the street from the seawall since there were very large waves crashing against the seawall. Here I did a straight time-lapse video of the traffic and waves. At one point a woman walking along the seawall decides that the waves are too big and crosses the avenue.

The group spent the morning at the Cuban Ballet School. Not for a performance, but practice. It was in an old run down, but once majestic building. We were told the students from Cuba attended for free, but those from other countries paid tuition, which paid some of the bills. The director was looking for donations of costumes and dance shoes.

One of our photography stops was at Rafael Tejo Boxing Gym (Gimnasio de Boxeo Rafael Tejo). I’m really not into boxing. We were supposed to see a boxing match, but the boxing official or medical officer didn’t show up. So we ended up shooting the young kids practicing. After getting back to the US and did some internet searches, I saw that several photography tours stop at this boxing gym as part of the People to People cultural exchange. While there three kids, that were not practicing came up to me and asked for dollars. I gave them Kennedy half-dollar coins instead.
