One-Year Ago (10-March-2016) — At Sea, Indian Ocean

Gone to See the World. Semester at Sea Spring 2016 Voyage on the MV World Odyssey. Day 65: At Sea, Indian Ocean.

Back at sea, crossing the Indian Ocean from Mauritius to South Africa. Yet another amazing dawn and sunrise. What else can I say? Best to view the panorama in full screen mode. The color of the clouds is real changing from a pastel pink/lavender to a fiery yellow/orange.

Gone to See Iceland 2014 โ€“ Winter Photography Trip. Day 2: Reykjavik.

I had some time to do a walkabout in Reykjavik, Iceland on a rainy winter day before joining a photo safari. These images were all taken with a Leica X2 camera, my favorite small travel camera.

Backyard Late Winter Nature in New Jersey.

Nine-Years Ago (09-March-2008) — Colorado

Winter Nature in Colorado. Rocky Mountain National Park.

One of the things that I loved when working part-time in Boulder was the chance to go to Rocky Mountain National park nearly every weekend. Several of the roads on the east side of the park are kept open year round. The following are some images I took of the landscape and the animals in the park.

Photographic Techniques. Resolution and Focus Testing.

I must have been bored, so spent an afternoon doing some autofocus and resolution testing with some of my cameras and lenses. The goal was to see which combination would be able to focus and provide the highest resolution image of Alexander Hamilton. Ideally, sharp enough to make out the microprint security feature on his shoulder. All of the images were taken with a Nikon D300 camera. The lenses used include a 105 mm f/2.8 VR macro, 200 mm f/2 VR, 300 mm f/2.8 VR, 400 mm f/2.8, and 200-400 mm f/4 VR.
