Many of the small birds visiting the new bird feeder pick up a sunflower seed, and then fly off to extract the kernel from the shell. Some have learned to crack the seed and discard the shell while staying at the bird feeder.

I am getting to like this Leica CL camera. I think it will become a great travel camera. It is light-weight, has a 24 MP sensor, and accepts the Leica T series lenses. This panorama is a composite of 18 images, and really needs to be viewed on a large screen or as a large print.
Springtime Dawn Panorama; Silhouettes, Colorful Clouds and Sky. Composite of eighteen images taken with a Leica CL camera and 18 mm f/2.8 lens (ISO 100, 18 mm, f/10, 1/30 sec). Raw images processed with Capture One Pro and AutoPano Giga Pro. (David J Mathre)
Small birds at and on the ground below the bird feeder. A number of seeds had been dumped on the ground during the wind storm the other night. Some birds only feed at the feeder, others only on the ground, and some work both locations. In today’s set, House Finch, Goldfinch, Dark-eyed Junco, and Mourning Pigeon. As it started getting dark, the deer came through so I had to up the ISO for the images.
Scruffy deer and black crows working the back lawn. The deer are trimming the grass, waiting for more delectable treats out of my garden. The crows appear to be going after small insects (maybe the stink bugs!!!).
