Gone to See Florida — 2019 Road Trip.

The extended family got together for a holiday celebration on Sunday between Christmas and New Year’s day. Lots of food and time to go walkabout in the urban garden. The Hibiscus flower series is a study of depth of field vs. len aperture (f/2.8, 1/500 sec; f/4, 1/250 sec; f/5.6, 1/125 sec; f/8, 1/60 sec, f/11, 1/30 sec; f/16, 1/15 sec).

Daily Electric Energy Used (28.3 kWh) from Sense and Daily Solar Electric Energy Produced (7.8 kWh) from SolSystems and Locus Energy. The outdoor temperatures went down and the sun was hiding. A deficit of 20.5 kWh. Most of the hydroponic gardens were off or only on for fewer hours. Also, the thermostat for the Geothermal heater and hybrid heat pump hot water heater were set for vacation mode.

Gone to See Florida — 2019 Road Trip.

Christmas Day walkabout in an Urban Garden and Farm. I went out three times during the day with three different camera & lens combinations. Fuji X-H1 camera with a 200 mm f/2 lens and 1.4x teleconverter, Fuji X-T3 camera with a 80 mm f/2.8 macro lens, and Nikon 1 V3 camera with a 70-300 mm VR lens. The Hens were still feasting on the broccoli leaves I brought them. Cardinal, Blue Jay, and Red-headed Woodpecker at the bird feeder. A squirrel in the Carambola and Mango tree. Many flowers (Flame Lily, Canna Lily, Chinese Lantern, Rossle (Hybiscus), Purple Bengal Clockvine). Also Bananas and Figs.

Gone to See Florida 2008 Road Trip Day 4: St. Petersburg Pier Holiday Lighting from the Vinoy Hotel.

I was staying a the Vinoy Hotel and had a window/balcony that looked out over Tampa bay. Over the holidays, the St. Petersburg Pier, which looks like an inverted pyramid is lit up with colored lights that change every few minutes. I am really liking the resolution with the new Nikon D3x camera.

Gone to See Florida 2007 Road Trip Day 4: A Busy Christmas Day.

Early morning sunrise and night-time photography at the Vinoy Hotel.  Wildlife photography at the Weedon Island Nature Preserve. Lots of birds, a crab spider, and how often do you see, let alone catch a “flying fish” in midair. Then the extended Mathre family Christmas Day celebration.
