Backyard Autumn Nature in New Jersey.

Even though it was raining, there was a lot of activity at the bird feeders. Blue Jays, Northern Cardinals, Tufted Titmouse, American Goldfinch, and new for me a Marsh Wren. The squirrels stayed off the bird feeder — I don’t know if that means the electric shock worked.

Three-Years Ago (21-November-2015) — Cuba

Gone to See Cuba 2011 People to People Cultural Exchange. Day 3 of a Street Photography Workshop led by Steve Simon.

One thing you notice in Havana is that many/most of the taxis are vintage American vehicles imported into Cuba before the revolution. I did a time-lapse video of the traffic out my hotel room window with lots of the classic taxis. The group then went out for a morning photo shoot in three classic convertible taxis. Our local host told us that medical doctors in Cuba make more driving the taxis than they do practicing medicine.

Five-Years Ago (10-October-2013) — Arizona

Gone to See America 2013. Nikonian Annual Photography Adventure Trip. Day 5: Williams, Chloride, and Oatman.

When we woke up, there was snow on the ground. Early winter — but Williams is 6766 feet above sea level. The government shutdown continued, and the closure of Grand Canyon National Park continued.  Our van set out for opportunities at lower elevations free of snow.  We traveled to Chloride, a one time silver mining town and now nearly a ghost town. Outside of Chloride, we visited a site where artist Roy Purcell created some modern rock murals back in the 1960’s.  We also visited Oatman, another former gold mining town. Now a tourist destination. But the remaining local residents don’t want the tourists to feed the wild burro’s.

Late Summertime Backyard Nature in New Jersey.

Today was the second day in a row that the sun showed itself. Several young bucks with new antlers paraded through the yard. They appear to like to eat the acorns that have fallen onto the driveway. The ground is still very wet with mushrooms popping up every night. I caught one of the house trolls admiring the two types of mushrooms. For the last several days, I have been seeing some rather large spiders in the garden. Today, I got images of one with a funnel like web. The other one had an egg sack the size of a marble that was attached to its posterior. Finally, I still have a number of flowers and wildflowers in bloom. Behind an electric fence to keep the deer away.

Backyard Summertime Nature in New Jersey.

All of the recent rain is keeping my trolls happy as they watch the mushrooms grow. It has been more than a week since the solar panels have generated more electricity than I have used in a day.
