I am a scientist by training (Eckerd College, BSc; Caltech, Ph.D.). I worked for 27 years as a Chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry developing processes to manufacture medicines for human and animal health. I now spend my time as a photographer and world traveler. My interests include the natural world, wildlife, landscapes, sky, and seascapes, travel, and astrophotography. I look for unique ways of viewing the world and presenting my images. I have traveled to over 55 countries in six continents, often on Semester at Sea voyages. While at home in New Jersey, I spend time on home renovation and expansion of a wildflower garden/meadow.

Great shot +David Mathre ! Love the light in the sky and the great reflection on the water. Two in one shot is great, too. Love the interesting architecture of the close lighthouse. Thank you for sharing with #LighthouseThursday
+Heiko Köster It was a dreary morning as we came into Dublin. Just after passing between the green North Bull lighthouse and red Poolbeg lighthouse, a sun beam broke through the clouds around the North Bull lighthouse allowing me to take this image. The North Bull lighthouse is at the end of Bull Wall (mostly underwater). The object on the side of this lighthouse is a fog bell, and I think there are solar cells mounted on top of the lighthouse. I'll post another image the North Bull light house today, and leave the red Poolbeg lighthouse for another week.
Nice one, indeed +David Mathre ! It kind of remind me about one of my latest shots posted here on G+, check it out if you want. It has the same bird in almost the exact same position in the image and the sun rays as it hits the water. Have a great week-end David! 😉
