Ten-Years Ago (13-September-2009) — Canada

Gone to See North America Road Trip. Day 23: Alaska-Canada Highway, Canada.

Lots of wildlife on the side of the highway. A mother black bear and her two cubs, a red fox, and bison. I didn’t realize that bison lived in forests? I don’t remember if I was still in Yukon or in British Columbia when I took these images.

Gone to See North America Road Trip. Day 23: Alaska-Canada Highway, Canada.

This was getting near the end of the season for road construction and repair. Waiting for the signal to proceed. I apologize I also take blurry pictures. Are relatively long exposures. I still can’t figure out where her arm is in the last image. Taken from the RV with a Nikon D700 camera and 70-300 mm VR lens, somewhere along the Alaska Canada Highway. The images are the same as in a previous post in 2015, but reprocessed with Topaz Focus AI (stabilize) to correct for motion blur.

Gone to See North America Road Trip. Day 22: Anchorage to Burwash Landing on the Alaska-Canada Highway. Yukon, Canada.

Rather taking the Alaska Marine Highway ferry back, I decided to drive the Alaska-Canada highway. The summer travel season was over so there was very little traffic on the highway. I spent the night at a RV spot in Burwash Landing along Lake Kluane. There was a derelict boat behind my RV site next to the lake. The image of the boat seemed dull, so I played around with some of the image processing software packages ending up with a surrealistic photo art version of the derelict boat.

Gone to See North America Road Trip. Day 11: Haines Highway. British Columbia and Yukon Territory, Canada.

In order to get from Haines to Anchorage by road in Alaska you have to travel the Haines Highway through British Columbia, and Yukon Territory in Canada. As you pass through the Canadian border, they check to make sure you are not transporting any guns or knives. I stopped along the road several times to get panoramic images of the late summer landscape. The first two in British Columbia (probably toward Tatshenshini-Alsek Park). The third one was along the southern shore of Kluane Lake in Yukon. I spent the night at a RV park in Burwash Landing further north along the lake.
