Sunrise on the North Atlantic Ocean from the Deck of MV Explorer. The contrails mean we must be getting close to Europe. Image taken with a Nikon 1V1 camera and 30 mm lens (ISO 100, 30 mm, f/11, 1/125 sec)
Gone to see Europe. Semester at Sea. Fall 2012 Semester Voyage on the MV Explorer. Day 07: At Sea, North Atlantic Ocean.
Just After Sunrise from the Deck of the MV Explorer. Images taken with a Nikon 1 V1 camera and 30-110 VR lens.
While on Semester at Sea voyages I always tried to get images at sunrise and sunset. This meant I was out on the deck at least an hour before and hour after, and sometimes longer if the lens is going to fog up due to the difference between my cabin temperature and the conditions outside.
Gone to See North America Road Trip. Day 04: Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota.
Early Morning Silhouette of a Bighorn Ram in Midair. Missouri river overlook in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Image taken with a Nikon D700 camera and 80-400 mm VR lens (ISO 220, 400 mm, f/11, 1/1600 sec).
I was focused on shooting the sunrise over the Missouri river. Thanks to Winston Hall, a former photography mentor who taught me to always look behind because there may be a better picture. The Bighorn left as soon as it realized I was there.
Gone to See North America Road Trip. Day 04: Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota.
Sunrise over the fog covered Missouri River at an overlook in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Image taken with a Nikon D300 camera and 18-200 mm VR lens (ISO 200, 60 mm, f/22, 1/100 sec).
I didn’t sleep well thinking about the Bison wandering around the campsite. I got up early to a thick fog. I drove slowly up to a higher overlook for sunrise, and was rewarded to an amazing sunrise. When I turned around there was an even better picture –for another post.
