Gone to See California. Day 2: Working in South San Francisco.

A couple of images from my office while working in San Francisco on the first day of Spring. Although there was heavy rain last night and this morning, the sky cleared later in the day. The site where I am working near the UCSF campus looks over a large construction site for a new Hospital. I needed to work on the white balance since the image was taken through a window tinted green (auto white balance within the camera 6008 K) . The 2nd version has the white balance corrected (6514 K). Later on when I returned to my hotel I saw this sailboat at anchor in Oyster Bay.

Four images taken while flying out of San Francisco. Nikon D3x and 70-300 mm VR lens.

1) Morning view of San Francisco behind the TV & radio towers.

2) Morning view of San Francisco and the Bay bridge to Oakland.

3) Golden Gate Bridge in Fog.

4) When in San Francisco, I work in the green triangular building in the upper portion of the image near Highway 101 (adjacent to the UCSF Mission Bay Campus)

Ghirardelli’s “The Original Chocolate Shop” at night in San Francisco. A must stop for chocoholic’s near Fisherman’s Warf. The image was taken on 20-October-2009 with a D3x and 16 mm fisheye lens (f/2.8, ISO 1250, 1/60 sec). The image was processed using Capture One Pro 5 and Photoshop CS5 using the Topaz Denoise 5 and Focus Magic filters, and then conversion for web and sRGB using Photoshop CS5. The Topaz Denoise 5 (medium RAW setting) filter did a much better job removing noise from the image than other software. If you look closely, you can see the photographer’s reflection looking over the pumpkin in the window.

Working at SIRNA in South San Francisco.

During the day we heard that Michael Jackson had died. That evening while looking for dinner in San Francisco we saw that the Wax Museum already had a Michael Jackson display.
