Indoor Autumn Nature in New Jersey: House Pet Returns.

Scutigera Coleoptrata (House Centipede) β€” Not a Silverfish, one of my creepy crawly house pets appeared again this afternoon. Still waiting on the Drobo upgrade to complete, so spent some time taking macro images β€” until it got tired of the flash and went away.

Backyard Autumn Night Sky in New Jersey: Star Trails and Time-Lapse Video.

Last Night I tried to do some night sky photography. I had to give up after less than 3 hours as clouds moved in. With the images I had I did some star trail images, and a short time-lapsed video including the 15 minute star trail images.

Indoor Fall Nature in New Jersey: Moth.

As I was going out to try to do some night sky photography, this large brown moth flew into the house. After getting the camera on the deck going, I took the opportunity to use one of my macro lenses that was along on both of my previous trips, but never used. I also used a SB-910 flash that was along and not used — at least the batteries were still charged. This was all done hand-held while sitting on a ladder to get close. Auto-focus with the D4 even with low light and at f/29 was good.

Home Cooking: Ramen Noodles with Beef and Red Onion.

There is a new food program “The Mind of a Chef” on the local PBS Station (WHYY) that premiered tonight. In the first episode the Chef David Chang featured Ramen noodles. I am glad that they are quick to cook, and was able to prepare a bowl of Ramen noodles with beef and raw red onions during the program break before the next episode started.

Autumn Weather in New Jersey: Nor’easter Athena.

An early winter. Not as much wind from Nor’easter Athena, but we did get 8-12 inches of snow last night. I didn’t know that nor’easters get names like hurricanes — social media or weather and news channels looking for ratings? Power was off for about 12 hours, so it was cold in the house this morning. Still not sure if the power was off due to ongoing power grid repairs, or new damage due to this storm.

PSE&G just sent an e-mail out that stated 70K users were still out due to hurricane Sandy, and another 90K users were out due to the nor’easter last night. The other comment was “Despite the snowstorm, the 4,000 out-of-state workers and 700 PSE&G linemen restored service to more than 120,000 customers affected by Hurricane Sandy in the past 24 hours. Many of our crews from the south have never worked in snow before, but have proven more than capable of handling this new challenge.”
