Fourth and final day of the Annual Backyard Bird Count. Birds of the day viewed in the backyard, at the birdfeeder and on the patio: Mourning Dove, Red-tailed Hawk, Downy Woodpecker, Blue Jay, Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, European Starling, American Robin, House Sparrow, House Finch, Dark-eyed Junco, White-throated Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbird, Brown-headed Cowbird, Common Grackle, Northern Cardinal. The birds were skittish until a band of Blue Jays harassed and chased away a Red-tailed Hawk.

Colorful Clouds at Dawn. Composite of eleven images taken with a Leica CL camera. Images were processed with Capture One Pro 22, including the panorama stitching. This is a new feature in the just released update to Capture One Pro. Previously, I would have stitched the images with AutoPano Giga (a program no longer supported) or PTGui. The stitched image size is 16309 x 5365 pixels. At 300 dpi, the print would be 54.4″ x 17.9″.

Four-Years Ago (12-January-2016) — Hawaii

Gone to See the World. Semester at Sea Spring 2016 Voyage on the MV World Odyssey. Day 8: Hawaii.  Oahu Field Trip .

Although not a “Birding Field Trip” I did capture the images of several birds. A Black Swan in the Boydo-In Temple grounds at Hawaiian Memorial Park. Several Red Junglefowl and Red Crested Cardinals at Mālaekahana State Recreation Area. A Hawaiian Coot swimming in a shrimp pond at James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge. Several unknown birds at Sunset Beach Park and Haleiwa Beach Park. And finally, three House Sparrows outside the Dole Plantation tourist center.
