Thursday (19-December-2019) — New Jersey

Indoor Nature in New Jersey.

I harvested the first of the indoor hydroponic strawberries today. Before tasting them I took this focus stacked image with some German chocolate.

Thursday (05-September-2019) — New Jersey

Backyard Summertime Nature in New Jersey.

Even though it has been relatively dry, I noticed one of the outdoor trolls happy to find a mushroom that popped up overnight. While set up with the Nikon D850 camera with a 105 mm f/1.4 lens on a tripod to a focus-stacked portrait session, two garter snakes passed by next to my feet. I needed another camera, but didn’t have one with me. ARRG! The troll did jump up on top of the mushroom when it saw the snakes.

Backyard Autumn Nature in New Jersey.

The extended Troll Family had its Autumn Mushroom Jamboree to celebrate a better than expected crop. They also were discussing their DNA Ancestry results: (77.2% Norwegian,  10.9% British & Irish, 10.2% Broadly Northwestern European, 0.7% German & French, 0.5% Eastern European, 0.2% Broadly European). Pretty much where the Vikings traveled.

Friday (02-June-2017) — New Jersey

Backyard Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

More new Red Poppy Flowers, and what I think is Drummond’s Phlox (Annual Phlox). The Phlox wasn’t blooming yesterday, so a new wildflower for the year. I am looking forward to seeing what else comes back from last year, and what new comes up in the new wildflower meadow sections.

Tuesday (30-May-2017) — New Jersey

Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

Several more Poppy blooms appeared this morning. I took four inside to make high resolution focus stacked images. Two red, one pink, and one orange. The images were taken with a Nikon Df camera and 105 mm f/2.8 macro lens (ISO 100, 105 mm, f/4, 1/60 sec) with two SB-900 flashes (TTL, EV -1). The camera is mounted on a Kirk focusing track. Images were taken over 5-7 cm range in 0.5 or 0.25 cm increments. The composite focus stacked images were created using Helicon Focus using the method A (average), method B (depth map), and method C (pyramid)
