Eight-Years Ago (01-March-2009) — New Jersey

Winter Nature in New Jersey. Sourland Mountain Preserve.

I went for a walkabout at the local Sourland Mountain Preserve on a snowy day and took a few pictures. The high-pressure gas-line right of way trail looked open, but I didn’t go very far. There were cattails in the marshy area, and some Mallard ducks swimming in the pond. The ducks usually leave as soon as the more boisterous Canada geese arrive, but on this snowy day the geese stayed away.

Ducks and Great Blue Heron at the Sourland Mountain Preserve. The ducks usually leave the pond for somewhere more quiet when the Canada Geese show up. I had not seen a Heron here before in the winter.

Monday (10-March-2014) — Iceland

Gone to See Iceland in the Winter Photography Trip. Day 2: Reykjavik.

Before joining up with the Winter in Iceland Photography Workshop group, I went for a walkabout in Reykjavik. Actually, I arrived in Reykjavik a couple of days early not trusting the weather for traveling in either New Jersey or Iceland. It was a grey Monday morning; overcast, rainy, and cold. Capturing the day in B&W captured the mood.
