Summertime Backyard Nature in New Jersey.

I spent the morning working on the patio (time-lapse little planet video). The Grow Towers are doing well. I’ve been harvesting large radishes, broccoli rabe, Swiss chard, and dill. Zinnia and Coreopsis are blooming in the outer cloth pots. I planted Marigold and Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) in the inner set of cloth pots. No Marigold flowers yet, and five of the Roselle are growing fast. Several volunteer tomatillo and/or ground cherry plants also sprouted in the inner set of cloth pots.

A herd of deer passed through the backyard just before it started to rain. Then before the sun went down I noticed a partial double rainbow.

Double Rainbow in Utah. While driving between Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument and Bryce National Park on Utah Highway 12 I saw a rainbow in my rear view mirror. I quickly pulled over just outside of Cannonville Utah and started taking some images. I was lucky that there was a dark background in the sky so I could begin to see the double rainbow. Before the rainbow was gone, many other cars pulled over to admire the view.

Gone to See American 2008 Road Trip. Driving from Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument to Bryce National Park.

Double Rainbow. While driving from Zion National Park to Bryce National Park on Utah Highway 12, I noticed a dark sky and then a rainbow in my rear-view mirror. I stopped along the road just outside Canyonville and started to take some pictures. It was great that I had a dark background so I could see the double rainbow. By the time the rainbow was done several other cars stopped. I was the only one with a tripod, which was good since I could take several exposures for later HDR processing.
