Gone to See the World. Semester at Sea Spring 2016 Voyage on the MV World Odyssey. Day 65: At Sea, Indian Ocean.
Back at sea, crossing the Indian Ocean from Mauritius to South Africa. Yet another amazing dawn and sunrise. What else can I say? Best to view the panorama in full screen mode. The color of the clouds is real changing from a pastel pink/lavender to a fiery yellow/orange.
Gone to See Patagonia 2015 Photography Tour with Thom Hogan. Day 9: Estancia Cristina, Argentina.
Early in the morning I went for a walkabout at Estancia Cristina. I was rewarded by the sky being lit up at dawn. I am always amazed by the colors of the clouds at dawn and dusk in Patagonia. Later in the morning we went for a horse ride to the glacier. Here they required helmets when riding the horses (which was good). A few images of silhouettes with lenticular clouds, and one of a rainbow over the glacier.
Elderhostel “Photography in the Southwest” Workshop Day 5. Kelly Place.
The Elderhostel/Road Scholar photography workshop that I attended with my father and brother ended the previous evening. Before leaving the Kelly Place B&B to drive back to Boulder, Colorado I took one last image of the “Sleeping Ute Mountain” from the patio at dawn.
All week I had been intrigued by this wooden flying goddess that was hanging from the ceiling of the meeting room. [Maybe Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese, pre-Hindu Dewi Sri, or Shridevi. Or An Apsara (Apsarasa) Hindu or Buddhist flying spirit???] I spent a little bit of time trying to get an image that I liked. The lighting wasn’t good so did some experimenting with a flash.
Gone to See the World. Semester at Sea Spring 2016 Voyage on the MV World Odyssey. Day 18: Crossing the Pacific Ocean.
A cloudy sunrise panorama. A bit of a disappointment when compared to the previous day. Pacific Ocean, from the aft deck of the MV World Odyssey somewhere east of Japan. In-camera panorama taken with a Fuji X-T1 camera and 23 mm f/1.4 lens (ISO 200, 23 mm, f/5.6, 1/125 sec).
Gone to See the World. Semester at Sea Spring 2016 Voyage on the MV World Odyssey. Day 17: Crossing the Pacific Ocean.
Some kind of wonderful!!! You had to be there to take in the dawn view of the sky over the Pacific Ocean. Someday I’ll be able to make a large format print of the full panorama. The day before had been windy and some wave action. Unlike many others, I didn’t get seasick, and didn’t need to take any of the anti-nausea medications. The aft decks 6 and 7 provide some wind protection that allowed me to get out and take images of the dawn sky and the and sunrise. It was still a couple of days before we would arrive in Yokohama.
