Gone to See America 2014 Road Trip. Day 10: Clyde Butcher’s Swamp Cottage.

Baby Alligator with five mosquitoes, next to the back pond at Clyde Butcher’s Swamp Cottage, Big Cypress Swamp in Florida. I didn’t realize that the baby alligators were this colorful.

Gone to See America 2014 Road Trip. Day 9: Clyde Butcher’s Swamp Cottage, Big Cypress National Preserve.

Small Alligator next to the back pond at Clyde Butcher’s Swamp Cottage. Big Cypress Swamp in Florida.  If you look close there is an out of focus mosquito on the other side of the alligators head. It has to be pretty tough to get through the alligators skin.

Alligator taking a mud bath along Biolab Road. Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge in Florida. Image taken with a Nikon Df camera and 300 mm f/4 lens (ISO 100, 300 mm, f/5.6, 1/1250 sec). Although he appears to be sleeping, this guy was big enough that even though he is pointed the other direction, I didn’t get out of the car to take the picture….

Gone to See America. January 2013 Florida Road Trip. Day 8: Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

I did one last circuit on Black Point Wildlife Drive before heading back home to New Jersey. Right on the side of the road there was a large Florida Alligator waiting to warm itself in the morning sun. Image taken with a Nikon D700 and 28-300 mm VR lens (ISO 640, 300 mm, f/5.6, 1/320 sec).
