Elderhostel “Photography in the Southwest” Workshop Day 1.

The Elderhostel/Road Scholar “Photography in the Southwest” workshop was based at Kelly Place B&B  just outside of Cortez Colorado. This is a great location in McElmo Canyon, quiet and remote. It borders Canyon of the Ancients National Monument. The following images were taken in and around Kelly Place during the first day of the workshop.

Winter in Colorado: Mesa Verde National Park.

On the way from Boulder, Colorado to Kelly Place a B&B just outside of Cortez, Colorado I stopped for a few hours at Mesa Verde National Park. While at Mesa Verde, I met up with my father (Loren) and brother (Erik). We would be spending the next three days attending the Elderhostel/Road Scholar “Photography in the Southwest” workshop.

Outdoor Winter Nature in Colorado: Rocky Mountain National Park.

The sky was clear, so drove from Boulder to Rocky Mountain National Park. The roads in the park are open, so I spent another day taking pictures in this great National Park. It is cold, and the river is frozen. I am getting good use out of my Golden Eagle Pass.

Outdoor Winter Nature in Colorado: Lily Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.

During a winter visit to Lily Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, I observed these two folks out in the middle of the frozen lake. What do you think that they are doing? To give you a hint, they are not ice fishing, but it does have to do with fish under a frozen lake. Please reply if you think you know what they were doing.
