Lambertville Station Inn with the Delaware River at Near Flood Stage, Post Hurricane Irene.

I took these images of the Lambertville Station Inn with the waters from the Delaware River up to the level of the parking lot. The Lambertville Station Inn is right next to the Lambertville  — New Hope bridge,  which I cross on my way to work in Pennsylvania. This bridge remained open. These images were taken just after the river peaked at about 12 feet above normal. The official NWS flood stage is 13 feet. The USGS has a website where you can see a graph of the river level at this location.

Summertime Heat Wave. “Let it Snow” in July.

The Carrier Clinic in nearby Belle Mead put this wishful thinking inflatable display up. They usually have it up in December and January. It has been in the upper 90’s and even over 100°F for the last several days. Anything to think cold is helpful.

The Photographic Art Society of Florida. “Black & White and One Color” Exhibition.

I just got word that a print of my image “Girl with Yellow Pants Running” won First Place at the The Photographic Art Society of Florida exhibition last night. The theme of the show was “Black & White and One Color”. I took this image while on the second Ultimate Travel Photography Workshop (UTPW-II) earlier this spring while returning by bus from a field trip to the Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala (02-May-2011) in the town of San Francisco de Sales. The image was processed with Capture One Pro 6 using the inverse color selection tool to select the yellow color of the pants and notebook and decreasing the saturation of all other colors to black and white. Other processing was performed with Nik Viveza, Nik Define, and Photoshop CS5. I thank my sister Kari Sheppard for persevering while printing the image for the exhibition since it kept coming out too dark.

Summertime in New Jersey.

It was a bit foggy this morning after all of the rain and thunderstorms yesterday. I saw this lone rower on the Delaware river out early between Lambertville, New Jersey and New Hope, Pennsylvania.

Monday (21-March-2011) — California

Gone to See California. Day 2: Working in South San Francisco.

A couple of images from my office while working in San Francisco on the first day of Spring. Although there was heavy rain last night and this morning, the sky cleared later in the day. The site where I am working near the UCSF campus looks over a large construction site for a new Hospital. I needed to work on the white balance since the image was taken through a window tinted green (auto white balance within the camera 6008 K) . The 2nd version has the white balance corrected (6514 K). Later on when I returned to my hotel I saw this sailboat at anchor in Oyster Bay.
