Summertime Nature in New Jersey.

Birds of the day viewed in my backyard: Mourning Dove, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Turkey Vulture, Downy Woodpecker, Blue Jay, Black-capped Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, European Starling, Gray Catbird, House Finch, American Goldfinch, Song Sparrow, Common Grackle, Northern Cardinal. Today, Many more birds today. The Ruby-throated hummingbirds were mainly at the hummingbird feeder rather than in the Zinnia patch. A large number of American Goldfinch continue to pull the petals off the Zinnia flowers. Several House Finch must have recently fledged. They are around the feeders, fluttering their wings with their mouths open waiting to be fed. They haven’t quite figured out how to open a sunflower seed.
