+Jim Batey I had seen this the year before as the MV Explorer was transiting the shipping channel leaving Saint Petersburg. As you pass by Kronstadt Island (which is a Naval/Submarine base) you have a very short period of time to get the image of both the Cathedral and Lighthouse lined up. This year when arriving, the lighting was wrong – looking into the sun. We didn’t leave until late several days later, but the light was still good enough at almost 11 PM (22:55). It was still touch and go since our vessel was moving. This year I did get the opportunity to visit Kronstadt island and got some images of the lighthouse from much closer (as close as I could get since it is still a Naval base). A day later, I could have visited the lighthouse since it was a Naval celebration day. My private guide did mention that I was of the few Americans that had visited Kronstadt Island.

+John Roach This was taken at almost 11 PM. Dusk lasts a long time this far north in the Summer – but I was worried about having enough light.
