When we got to the site there was a sign that it was closed due to the Government Shutdown, but only that they wouldn't be collecting any fees with the automated machine and the restrooms were locked. Based on the number of vehicles in the parking lot, we decided to go in anyways. The colors were near peak. Note that I do have an "America the Beautiful" Annual Pass so even if officially open would not have had to pay a fee.
