Gone to See Norway 2013 Chasing the Northern Lights. Day 17: Tromsø.

Northern Lights in Norway. The entire sky just exploded just after midnight on Valentines day. My fisheye lens was not wide enough to capture it all!!!. If you watch closely you can see the Big Dipper. Image taken with a Nikon D800 and 16 mm f/2.8 fisheye lens (ISO 3200, 16 mm, f/2.8, 2 sec). The sequence of 18 images was automatically converted into an animated video by G+.

Thursday (12-February-2015) — New Jerseyh

Backyard Wintertime Nature in New Jersey.

One of the Many Squirrels Free Loading in My Attic. There were five nests and I had to replace all of the insulation in the attic and the wiring that they chewed through. Don’t know why they didn’t get electrocuted, and glad they didn’t start a fire. I wasn’t allowed to drop him/her off at the local nature preserve, but somewhere 5 miles away from the house. Image taken with a Leica T camera and 18-56 mm lens (ISO 100, 20 mm, f/4.2, 1/80 sec).

Gone to See America. February 2014 Florida Road Trip. Day 11: Big Cypress National Preserve.

Kingfisher at the Big Cypress Swamp in Florida. I had a hard time getting a picture of this guy. Every time I got close, he would fly off. Finally, I just waited for him to come back to a favorite perch. Image taken with a Nikon D3s camera and 70-200 mm f/2.8 VR lens (ISO 1000, 200 mm, f/2.8, 1/500 sec).
