One-Year Ago (10-January-2016) — Pacific Ocean

Gone to See the World. Semester at Sea Spring 2016 Voyage on the MV World Odyssey. Day 6: Crossing the Pacific Ocean.

Pair of Brown Boobies flying into a Sunburst. I guess they didn’t read Icarus. From the deck of the MV World Odyssey while crossing the Pacific Ocean. Later on I caught a sequence of images of a Brown Booby fishing, then going into a dive. At the end of the day we were fortunate to see a glimmer of a “Green Flash” as the sun fell into the sea.

Four-Years Ago (10-January-2013) — Florida

Gone to See America. January 2013 Florida Road Trip. Day 8: Merritt Island.

Have you ever had the Google Photo Assistant create or add a photo effect that makes no sense? This is an image I previously posted of “Two Roseate Spoonbills and Five Brown Pelicans Flying in Formation formation over the Merritt Island Wildlife Preserve”. The Google “photo assistant” created a version with snow falling. It also changed the location to Bengaluru, Karnataka, India???

Six-Years Ago (08-January-2011) — Chile

Gone to See Patagonia 2010/2011. Photography Workshop with Thom Hogan. Day 13: Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.

Guanaco Running at the Entrance to Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia. We were working on taking landscape images when two Guanaco’s started chasing each other. At one point they ran right through our group, and I managed to take this picture. Two days earlier we had been practicing taking pictures of horses in motion, which helped me take this one. Image taken with a Nikon D3s camera and 70-300 mm VR lens (ISO 200, 300 mm, f/16, 1/100 sec). Later on there was a Guanaco framed on a ridge with the mountains behind.
