Backyard Winter Nature in New Jersey.

It snowed the night before, and my Trolls went out to play.

Backyard Winter Snow Play in New Jersey.

It started snowing last night, and was still snowing when I got up. The temperature stayed cold enough to keep the snow as a very fine, light powder. The high winds kept the snow from building up on the tree limbs. Several of my trolls went out to play in the snow — reminding them of their home in Norway.  Later in the day I dug my car out and made a path from the house to the street. Not too much of a problem since the snow was so light.

New LG Washing Machine/Dryer Vibrations: Troll Family Dance

The new combination LG washing machine/dryer arrive. It was a bit of a challenge getting it into the house, and into the laundry room. Once it was in the laundry room, it was very easy to set-up. It only requires a single outlet (120 V, 15 A), hot & cold water connections, and the drain. The previous electric dryer required higher voltage and current (220 V, 40 A), and an outdoor vent. I did note that during the spin cycle, there was a bit of vibration (actually a lot of vibration until I leveled the unit). The house trolls quickly discovered that it worked as a great dance floor.

Remote Camera Control Test: Troll  Family

I periodically use the Nikon Camera Control Pro program to remotely control cameras. This was the first time I used to the program to control a Nikon Df camera. Three images of the Troll Family changing the aperture and shutter speed.

Troll Family Portrait: Helicon Focus

Macro focus stacking study using Helicon Focus. This is a composite of 30 stacked image where the focus was adjusted near to far using Helicon Remote and then combined using Helicon Focus. The images were acquired using a Nikon D3x camera and 5o mm f/1.4G lens (ISO 100, f/1.4, 1.3 sec) and ambient light.  The distance between nearest and farthest focus point was ~5 inches, and the camera was ~24 inches from the nearest focus point. The Helicon Focus settings used to process the images were mode B, radius 8, smoothing 4. Other settings increased the halo.
