Indoor Summertime Nature in New Jersey.
Creepy Crawly Pets. It was getting late, but I found this crawling on my wall fifteen minutes before midnight. Image taken hand-held with a Nikon D3x camera, 105 mm f/2.8 VR macro lens, and flash.

My New Pet?? If I don’t have anything better to shoot for my “image of the day” I can always find one of the house centipedes to pose. I just wish that they were outside and going after what ever is nibbling on my tomato plants.
I keep finding these crawling Scutigera coleoptrata “house centipedes” around the house. Like spiders, I know they are supposed to be a good thing eating other insects and silverfish, but ….
Scutigera Coleoptrata (House Centipede) — Not a Silverfish. I really don’t like seeing this guy crawling above my bed. I know that they are going after other insects — BUT look at those claws. I added a zoom from the image showing the multiple lenses in the eye and spikes on the legs.
Another macro image of a Scutigera Coleoptrata (House Centipede) crawling on the wall indoors. It is not a silverfish. Outside, I got to test out a new telephoto lens.
