Three-Years Ago (11-May-2016) New Jersey

Springtime Backyard Nature in New Jersey.

A poppy about to pop and an orange poppy bloom. Back then, I had to go across the street to a neighbor’s yard with a high fence that keeps the deer out to take pictures of spring flowers. Now I have my own wildflower garden/meadow with an electric fence.

Backyard Summertime Nature in New Jersey.

At this time of the year, the dawn clouds don’t seem to be as impressive. Dawn is earlier (before 05:30) so I might miss them, and the sun is further north so some of the colorful clouds may be hidden behind the trees to the north-east. During the day I spent some time with a new camera/lens combo (Nikon D850  camera and 70-300 mm AF-P lens) doing a flower/wildflower walkabout. It is an interesting combo. Individual images from the slides hows can be viewed here.

Backyard Summertime Nature in New Jersey.

Morning and afternoon walkabouts with a Fuji X-H1 camera and 80 mm f/2.8 macro lens. The afternoon set was after a thunderstorm leaving some of the flowers wet. I am really liking this lens. One note, when the lens is out of the camera, or attached to the camera when the camera is off there is an internal part of the lens that slides back-and-forth making a knocking noise. When the camera is powered on this does not happen. I have seen reports on the internet, but have been told that it is not a problem. Now that the Fuji X-H1 and X-T2 cameras have firmware updates that will allow the camera to do focus bracketing. I look forward to trying focus bracketing with this lens.

Backyard Summertime Nature in New Jersey.

Afternoon walkabout with my new Nikon D850 camera and a 105 mm f/2.8 macro lens. I was interested to see how the high resolution camera would do hand-held taking pictures of flowers on a cloudy day with some wind. I was impressed. I now need to try out the focus stacking capability of the camera for taking macro images of stationary flowers — indoors and with the camera on a tripod. Individual images can be viewed here.

Backyard Early Summer Nature in New Jersey.

The Yucca and Prickly Pear flowers are in bloom. There are several new wildflowers (and I am not sure of the ID). I also am seeing more poppies (Red, Icelandic, and California). Individual images from the slide-shows are available here.
