We didn’t get to see the full lunar eclipse in this part of the world. The sky was clear, and the moon was bright so I got a chance to test taking images of the moon with my new 600 mm telephoto lens. The first five are attempting the same exposure while changing both aperture and shutter speed (f/16, 1/50 sec; f/11, 1/100 sec; f/8, 1/200 sec; f/5.6, 1/400 sec; and f/4, 1/800 sec). The final image was taken at 1200 mm using a TC-E III 20 teleconverter. For all of the images I used the camera autofocus, remote shutter, mirror up for a 30 second delay to allow the mirror up vibrations to decay, and tripod VR mode.

CSX 8519 Railroad Locomotive. I had to stop for this CSX locomotive at two railroad crossings while driving home tonight. The second time I was in front of the queue and had the chance to quickly get the Leica X1 camera I carry in the car out and get a snapshot. Image converted to B&W with NIK Silver Efex Pro 2. Scutigera Coleoptrata (House Centipede) — Not a Silverfish. I really don’t like seeing this guy crawling above my bed. I know that they are going after other insects — BUT look at those claws. I added a zoom from the image showing the multiple lenses in the eye and spikes on the legs.

It was cloudy and rained much of the day. I did get a chance to photograph a rabbit in my backyard as it was mowing my grass and clover. Also an image of some wet fast growing tree leaves.
