Indoor Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

My house pet. I haven’t seen one of these for a long time. This one got caught in my bathtub and couldn’t get out. I’m told they eat other insects and spiders. After taking the picture, I let it go outside. Now that is starting to warm up outside, I am seeing a number of ants scouting the house for food. After my renovation and spring cleaning they are not finding much. Scutigera coleoptrata House Centipede (Not a Silverfish). Image taken with a Nikon Df camera and 105 mm f/2.8 VR macro lens (ISO 100, 105 mm, f/11, 1/125 sec) and SB-910 flash. Raw image processed with Capture One Pro 10, Focus Magic, and Silver Efex Pro.

Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

First Sunday in the Park organized by Montgomery Friends of Open Space. This month it was a walk through Rock Mill Preserve looking for spring wildflowers led by Sarah Roberts. Although it was cool and there were a few sprinkles, we did see a number of wildflower and other spring growth along the trail. Images taken with a Fuji X-T1 camera and 60 mm f/2.4 macro lens.

Backyard Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

This chipping sparrow was hunting for grubs in my recently planted wildflower meadow.

Backyard Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

I took some flowers inside to photograph in a light-box with a macro lens. The main reason was because of the wind outside making it difficult to keep the subject in focus. For some of the images I used a Black & White print of a Dragon Tree as the background in the light-box.
