Autumn Indoor Nature in New Jersey.

The two AeroGarden Bounty Gardens have been online for 10 days with a variety of wildflowers. So far in the first garden, two types of Cosmos, two types of Zinnia, a Marigold, Blanket Flower, Sweet Alyssum, and two types of Coreopsis have sprouted. In the second garden the Crimson Clover, a Red Poppy (mix), Blue Cornflower, and Lupine have sprouted. The California Poppy, Oriental Poppy, Red Poppy, Purple Cornflower, and Lemon Mint have not sprouted. It appears that the support for the seeds for some of the ones that have not sprouted are dry. I wet them from the top to see is anything happens?

Autumn Backyard Nature in New Jersey.

Daily walkabout with a Fuji X-T2 camera and 100-400 mm OIS lens. It was very hot and a bit windy. The wildflower meadow with Marigold flowers was still filled with Monarch, Painted Lady, and Common Buckeye butterflies. The deer don’t like Marigolds. The temperature is supposed to drop forty degrees and rain tomorrow. We will see how many butterflies are still around then. The Monarch butterflies should be leaving for Mexico pretty soon.

Backyard Summertime Nature in New Jersey.

Daily walkabout with a Nikon D5 camera and 80-400 mm VRII lens. I mainly focused on flowers today. Bumblebee on a Marigold, a Blue Larkspur, various Sunflowers, Zinnias, and a Hummingbird Clearwing moth (white legs) attracted to Lemon Mint flowers. I didn’t see any butterflies.

Backyard Autumn Nature in New Jersey

For the last few days, I have been seeing Monarch Butterflies in my wildflower garden/meadow. They seem to like the marigold flowers. I don’t have any milkweed left (too late in the season).
