Indoor Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

My house pet. I haven’t seen one of these for a long time. This one got caught in my bathtub and couldn’t get out. I’m told they eat other insects and spiders. After taking the picture, I let it go outside. Now that is starting to warm up outside, I am seeing a number of ants scouting the house for food. After my renovation and spring cleaning they are not finding much. Scutigera coleoptrata House Centipede (Not a Silverfish). Backyard Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

I took some flowers inside to photograph in a light-box with a macro lens. The main reason was because of the wind outside making it difficult to keep the subject in focus. For some of the images I used a Black & White print of a Dragon Tree as the background in the light-box.

Photographic Techniques. Resolution and Focus Testing.

I must have been bored, so spent an afternoon doing some autofocus and resolution testing with some of my cameras and lenses. The goal was to see which combination would be able to focus and provide the highest resolution image of Alexander Hamilton. Ideally, sharp enough to make out the microprint security feature on his shoulder. All of the images were taken with a Nikon D300 camera. The lenses used include a 105 mm f/2.8 VR macro, 200 mm f/2 VR, 300 mm f/2.8 VR, 400 mm f/2.8, and 200-400 mm f/4 VR.

Indoor Winter Nature in New Jersey — Stink Bug.

I was about to go to bed and saw this Stink Bug crawling up a wall. It was patient enough to allow me to take its picture. I then told it that spring was coming, and it really needed to go outside…
