For several weeks many (up to 100) turkey vultures invaded the neighborhood. There are three houses and several other trees that they favored for spending their nights. The roofs of the homes began to turn white from the turkey vulture droppings.

Late Fall Backyard Nature in New Jersey: Snow
Yesterday’s light rain and sleet changed to snow overnight. Outside became a winter wonderland. Images of trees, red holly berries, and lonely chairs on the deck.
Late Autumn Backyard Nature in New Jersey: Wet Rain and Sleet
The temperatures dropped followed by wet rain and some sleet. Snow is forecasted for tonight. An image of the backyard, and some red berries — holly and bittersweet.
The invasive “mile-a-minute” has become a problem. It was transported into the yard a few years ago by the deer. It grows even faster than the wild grape and poison ivy vines. It has already killed several trees and bushes in the rear section of my yard. In the fall, the vine dies and turns brown, but the damage is already done.
