Six-Years Ago (09-September-2009) — Alaska

Gone to See North America Road Trip. Day 19: Denali National Park, Alaska. (Day 5: Nikonians ANPAT 9).

We separated into four groups, and our group of eight road one of the Park Service buses on the only road into the National Park. We stopped several times since Mount Denali was visible through the clouds. Not as many animals as yesterday.

Seven-Years Ago (09-September-2008) — New Jersey

Backyard Summertime Nature in New Jersey.

This was the biggest spider I had ever seen in New Jersey. It was above my front door. I decided to go in the house via the back door to get a camera. Not as big as a tarantula, but close. Image taken with a Nikon D3 camera and 200 mm f/4 macro lens (ISO 220, 200 mm, f/16, 1/60 sec) and SB-900 flash.

Eight-Years Ago (09-September-2007) — New Jersey

Summertime Nature at the Sourland Mountain Preserve.

While out looking for butterflies, I came upon a Monarch butterfly feeding on a yellow Tick Weed. A bit later saw another Monarch butterfly that had been captured by a Praying Mantis and was being eaten for breakfast. A Darwin Award for this Monarch butterfly that won’t make it to Mexico this year. Kermit, a very large Bullfrog was waiting in the mud next to the pond. You wonder what he has been eating?
