Views of the sun, moon, and stars
I had two cameras out all night last night. I captured images of a few Leonid Meteors. I now need to put together some time-lapsed movies of the night sky. It is clear again tonight, so will try again with some different angles.
I went out to check if the sky would be clear tonight for the Leonid Meteors, and saw the waxing crescent moon. I took this image with a Leica X2. The camera was set for black & white (natural). Since this camera does record raw (Adobe DNG) images, I was also able to process a color version. Let me know which image you like. Since the sky looks clear, I will have cameras out to capture some meteor images — and don’t expect to get much sleep tonight.
Last Night I tried to do some night sky photography. I had to give up after less than 3 hours as clouds moved in. With the images I had I did some star trail images, and a short time-lapsed video including the 15 minute star trail images.
Moon over Colorado
While driving to Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge on Colorado Highway 14 near Stove Prarie, I saw the moon above the ridgeline. I stopped at a rest area and took this image.

Image taken from my backyard with a Nikon D2xs and 80-400 mm VR lens @ 400 mm (ISO 800, 1/25 sec, f/5.6). Post processed using Capture One Pro 5, Photoshop CS5, Topaz DeNoise 5. Hand-held, a bit out of focus, lots of noise reduction needed, moon blown out.
