I am a scientist by training (Eckerd College, BSc; Caltech, Ph.D.). I worked for 27 years as a Chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry developing processes to manufacture medicines for human and animal health. I now spend my time as a photographer and world traveler. My interests include the natural world, wildlife, landscapes, sky, and seascapes, travel, and astrophotography. I look for unique ways of viewing the world and presenting my images. I have traveled to over 55 countries in six continents, often on Semester at Sea voyages. While at home in New Jersey, I spend time on home renovation and expansion of a wildflower garden/meadow.

+David Mathre Great capture! I try to catch stuff in the air often and never get results this good. But your photo details give me a fine tutorial: 210mm and 30 seconds at f8–worth a try.
+Tom Malloy Thanks. Just realize that this is a composite of several hundred images. A long night taking the images and hours of processing time even with a fast computer. I actually have 3 cameras set up 100, 200, and 600 mm to take the firefly images, but I am way behind in processing the images. There is only a short period when the fireflies are flashing.
