Nine-Years Ago Today. Crepuscular rays from the deck of the MV World Odyssey. Semester at Sea. (08-Jan-2016, Pacific Ocean)

Winter Night Sky.

The forecast was for the night was initially clear with some clouds later in the night. The waxing gibbous moon (69% illuminated) was bright enough to interfere with observations of deep sky objects. I programed the telescopes to initially observe the moon, then later as the moon moves toward the west picked targets in the other direction. I also set up a camera with a fisheye lens viewing the telescopes with the moon and southern night sky in the background. The images were used to create the following time-lapse video of the night.
