Going from sunspots to startrails. The view is from my back deck over the roof. A tree in my front yard just blocks the north star. The image is a composite of 326 30-second exposures combined using the Startrails program. There are at least four jet trails, and a couple of meteor trails. The meteor trails are too faint in the composite, so I included a crop from a single image showing a meteor trail. I’ve also added a version of the startrails in B&W, converted using Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.

I worked for 27 years as a Chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry developing processes to manufacture medicines for human and animal health. I now spend my time as a photographer and world traveler. My interests include the natural world, wildlife, landscapes, sky, and seascapes, travel, and astrophotography. I look for unique ways of viewing the world and presenting my images. I have traveled to over 55 countries in six continents, often on Semester at Sea voyages. While at home in New Jersey, I spend time on home renovation and expansion of a wildflower garden/meadow.

Dave: It was great seeing you once again and helping in your send-off from Merck. I hadn’t thought about all of that Corey stuff for years – Mike’s email on Wednesday morning brought it all back. On my side, I also had stuff on the phase transfer chemistry. EJ gave us pretty good press in his 1997 communication, but didn’t get it quite right. I ignored such because I thought his paper was a real advance in the field and should be immediately published. When we got his OS submission, I had to really fix that before we could print it.
Enjoyed your web site – will look forward to more pictures.
