Gone to See Patagonia 2010/2011. Photography Workshop with Thom Hogan. Day 9: Hosteria El Pilar and Perito Moreno Glacier.

I got up early for one final view of Mount Fitz Roy at dawn but it was hidden behind the orange clouds. Still a dramatic panorama. Before leaving, I got more colorful lupine flower images.  After a long drive, we arrived at Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park.

Backyard Winter Nature in New Jersey: Spring is Coming!!!

When going to mail a letter today, I noticed that the Purple Crocuses were in bloom along a south-facing rock wall. Early, but not as early as last year 17-February-2012. Last year I used the Nikon 1 V1 camera, this year the new Nikon 1 V2 camera. This is the first time I used the 60 mm f/2.8 macro lens (with the FT1 adapter) with a Nikon 1 camera.

Monarch Butterfly.

I saw these wild flowers on the side of the road on the way home from work at an abandoned golf course, and decided to stop and see if there was a picture. I found that there were a number of Monarch butterflies which provided additional color. This image was taken hand-held with my favorite 80-400 mm zoom lens. The hard part was that I was working at the minimum focus distance of the lens (~ 7 feet) and had to keep stepping back to get the image in focus.
