Gone to See America 2014 Road Trip. Day 10: Clyde Butcher’s Swamp Cottage.

Baby Alligator with five mosquitoes, next to the back pond at Clyde Butcher’s Swamp Cottage, Big Cypress Swamp in Florida. I didn’t realize that the baby alligators were this colorful. Momma gator was nearby keeping an eye on how close I got.

Gone to See America 2014 Road Trip. Day 9: Clyde Butcher’s Swamp Cottage.

Welcome sign at Clyde Butcher’s Swamp Cottage. I then went for a walk and found a small alligator next to the back pond. If you look close there is an out of focus mosquito on the other side of the alligators head. It has to be pretty tough to get through the alligators skin. I was wary because I knew that momma alligator was probably nearby.

Backyard Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

I did a walkabout in my yard this afternoon to check if any wildflowers have appeared. Something different from the firefly trails. An ant on a daisy flower, some small cactus flowers, a larger yellow prickly pear cactus flower, a yucca plant about to bloom (kept behind a wire mesh to keep the deer away), an icelandic poppy flower, a flowering beardtongue plant, and honeysuckle flowers.

Indoor Autumn Nature in New Jersey: Mosquito

The only good mosquito is a dead mosquito. I don’t know why I have them inside my house every fall. But I don’t want to be a meal.
