Four-Years Ago (13-July-2012) – New Jersey

Before and After.

This was just before I retired. Should I do it again?

I am a scientist by training (Eckerd College, BSc; Caltech, Ph.D.). I worked for 27 years as a Chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry developing processes to manufacture medicines for human and animal health. I now spend my time as a photographer and world traveler. My interests include the natural world, wildlife, landscapes, sky, and seascapes, travel, and astrophotography. I look for unique ways of viewing the world and presenting my images. I have traveled to over 55 countries in six continents, often on Semester at Sea voyages. While at home in New Jersey, I spend time on home renovation and expansion of a wildflower garden/meadow.

  1. You do look 20 years younger without your beard. The beard is very nice and full so if you do it for the winter in a cold climate, then you can shave in the summer.

  2. +cobalt please Thanks, It is getting hot and maybe will do a before and after set later today. I did it then to mess up my previous boss that was going to use the beard in his talk at my retirement party back then. It becomes a problem when my drivers licence and passport pictures don't match…

  3. +David Mathre , just be yourself, but I think the passport and drivers license, etc. thing might be an issue….if you get rid of the beard do it based on timing of any planned trips whether national or international. You better get them all updated as soon as possible. Even flying from one State to another in the US can be more problematic these day with the Homeland Security ID rules being imposed for acceptable drivers licenses. Take care!
