Gone to See Europe. Semester at Sea Spring 2013 Enrichment Voyage on the MV Explorer. Ultimate Travel Photography Workshop IV with Michael Mariant. Day 24: Glasgow, Scotland.

During a Field Trip, we visited and did a tasting at the Glengoyne Distillery in Scotland. If you need to ask, that bottle cost more than the Semester at Sea voyage. Image taken with a Nikon 1 V2 camera and 6.7-13 mm VR lens (ISO 800, 13 mm, f/5.6, 1/50 sec).

I am a scientist by training (Eckerd College, BSc; Caltech, Ph.D.). I worked for 27 years as a Chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry developing processes to manufacture medicines for human and animal health. I now spend my time as a photographer and world traveler. My interests include the natural world, wildlife, landscapes, sky, and seascapes, travel, and astrophotography. I look for unique ways of viewing the world and presenting my images. I have traveled to over 55 countries in six continents, often on Semester at Sea voyages. While at home in New Jersey, I spend time on home renovation and expansion of a wildflower garden/meadow.

  1. Unfortunately, we didn't get to taste from the 40 year old bottle in the display case. The samples we tasted were being distilled around the time you visited. It was fun walking through the distillery and comparing it to the old building 50 Pilot Plants in Rahway.

  2. The oldest we tasted was, IIRC, 26 and we came away with a 17 (I think, it is gone now) and a 21 (still have some of it).
That old plant is not missed ๐Ÿ™‚
